Sinfonietta Strings
Rehearses: Mondays, 5:30 – 6:15 pm
Sinfonietta is an initial level string ensemble at YSDP for violin, viola, cello, and bass players with some playing experience on their instrument, a minimum of 1 year. The members are primarily in grades 4-9, taking private lessons and playing at a level equivalent to Suzuki books 1-3. The goal is to provide a formative group experience for young musicians, focusing on working together as an ensemble, intonation, articulation, and dynamic contrast. The repertoire includes unison pieces, duets, flex arrangements, and eventually multi-part pieces, annually tailored to each year’s member makeup.
Sample repertoire from past years includes Scherzo from Flex Trios, Quantz To the Kings Taste trio, and an arrangement of Test Drive from How to Train Your Dragon.
