Concert Uniform
Youth Symphony of DuPage Concert Uniform Policy
Beginning with the 2026–2027 season, the Youth Symphony of DuPage has adopted a new concert attire policy that provides students and families with greater flexibility while maintaining a professional, unified appearance.

Female Students may wear:
A solid black, ankle-length, concert-appropriate one-piece dress,
or a solid black, long-sleeved (3/4 or full length) concert blouse
or dress shirt with solid black dress pants or a long black skirt, ankle length.*
Students who previously purchased the official YSDP concert dress are welcome to continue wearing it. Optionally, students can order the official YSDP uniform here: Uniform Order Form – Click to print, complete, and submit it with a check. YSDP has some quantities and sizes of female uniforms on hand that you can purchase. Please email info@ysdp.org if you would like to purchase one.

Male Students may wear:
A solid black, long-sleeved dress shirt.
Solid black dress pants.
Bow ties are no longer required.

General Concert Attire Requirements
To present a professional and uniform appearance on stage, all students are expected to observe the following guidelines:
Dresses and skirts must be ankle-length.
Shirts must be long-sleeved, that is, 3/4 to full-length.
Wear black dress shoes with closed toes and covered heels.
Gym shoes, athletic shoes, sneakers, sandals, boots, casual footwear, or heels higher than 1 inch are not allowed.
Wear black socks or black hosiery, as appropriate.
Clothing should be neat, modest, wrinkle-free, and appropriate for a formal orchestral performance.
Clothing should be solid black with no visible logos, graphics, decorative patterns, sequins, or contrasting colors.
Jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Please avoid large, flashy, or distracting jewelry and accessories.
The YSDP reserves the right to determine whether concert attire meets YSDP standards. Students whose attire does not meet these requirements may be asked to make corrections before performing.

Purchasing Concert Attire
Families would obtain appropriate concert attire from the retailer of their choice, provided it meets the YSDP concert attire requirements.
