YSDP offers ensemble and chamber opportunities for students who wish to continue challenging themselves. Professional coaches guide our students through their musical selections to help develop and refine their musical skills.
YSDP is unique among many youth orchestras by offering diverse repertoire that is both challenging and rewarding to young musicians and their audience. YSDP offers three orchestra opportunities for our talented musicians. Rehearsals are on Monday nights at Benedictine University in Lisle.
YSDP is proud to announce our 3rd orchestral ensemble Sinfonietta Strings beginning in the fall of 2018.
Sinfonietta Strings members are talented younger musicians who have at least 3 years on their instrument with private instruction. The ensemble provides advanced training and ensemble experience for younger musicians playing with proficiency for advance orchestral performance. Private teacher recommendations required.
Concert Orchestra members are primarily advanced middle school and high school age musicians. Their repertoire is drawn from the standard classical literature and include works such as Mozart's Overture to "The Marriage of Figaro", Hofeldt's Centennial Overture, and Tchaikovsky's "Overture 1812.
Symphony Orchestra members are advanced middle school and high school age musicians who study more advanced classical repertoire including Bizet's L'Arlesienne Suite No. 2 and Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 in C Major, "Classical".
