COVID-19 and YSDP Rehersals
During this unprecedented time, YSDP is carefully considering the best ways to ensure our students and staff stay safe while providing an excellent musical experience. We are finalizing plans and preparing to transition between these options as conditions allow for the return of YSDP’s program in Fall.
While our ensembles might not look exactly as they have in the past, be assured that the YSDP will be fully functioning in the Fall, and we can’t wait to see everyone! We are monitoring school district protocols, colleges, health, and state department guidelines as well as parent wishes. Please know that your participation is vital. We invite you to stay engaged and excited about the Fall. We will continue to update you as conditions change. Currently, we have three different plans based on potential social distancing rules and restrictions on gathering sizes. The options being explored for the upcoming season that starts in Fall are
1) In-person with adjusted sizes according to social distancing protocol,
2) full Virtual Scenario, and
3) In-person and Virtual blended approach.
The proposed plan must align with the rehearsal facility and local health governing guidelines. We ask for your continued patience as the process progresses. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

Below is a list of 2019-2020 rehearsal times. The esitimated posting of the 2020-2021 draft schedule is late June, 2020. The confirmed schedule will be posted here on July 2020. Please check back with us.
Sinfonietta Strings: 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM
Philharmonia Strings (New): TBD
Concert Orchestra: 6:20 PM – 7:20 PM
Symphony Orchestra: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Members, please review the rehearsal etiquette (available in June) so you are aware of our expectations.
If you are unable to attend a scheduled rehearsal, or most importantly, an orchestra performance, you must notify your absence as soon as the conflict is identified. You should send your absence report before 4:00 pm of the rehearsal day. Click to complete an rehearsal absence report form.
In some cases, you may not be able to report your absence before the scheduled rehearsal time. Even if it is too late for the rehearsal, a retroactive report is still necessary.
“No show” without any absence report will not look good on your record. Since the attendance report must be seen by the conductors before each rehearsal session begins, it is important that the report is made by 5:00 pm. If you can’t make the deadline, fill out the absence report after rehearsal is over.
Youth Symphony of DuPage strongly urges all members to participate in their school bands and orchestras. We thank the many school orchestra and band directors who encourage their students to advance their skills by joining YSDP.
