Symphony Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra is the most advanced full orchestra offered by YSDP, utilizing wind, brass, and percussion instruments in all its performances. Musicians in this ensemble are mostly advanced high school-age students (approximately 10th-12th grade), however younger students may apply. Most students in this orchestra have completed or are currently working on movements of standard concertos.

Rehearses: Thursdays, 7:00 – 9:00 pm, McAninch Arts Center (MAC)

The McAninch Arts Center (MAC) is located just a few traffic lights away from our previous rehearsal venue at Arrowhead, now at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd, Glen Ellyn.

Performance: Each season will include three performances held at Wentz Concert Hall.

Wentz Concert Hall is located near the corner of Chicago Avenue and Washington Street within the North Central College campus at 171 E. Chicago Ave, Naperville.

Symphony Orchestra students rehearse weekly to develop their musical expressiveness, refine orchestral etiquette and techniques, and increase the success of future musical endeavors. Symphony Orchestra performs standard major symphonic works from composers such as Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Beethoven, Dvorak, Berlioz, Ravel, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich.
