Sinfonietta Strings
Sinfonietta is an initial-level string ensemble at YSDP for violin, viola, cello, and bass players with some playing experience on their instrument, a minimum of 1 year. The members are primarily in grades 4-9, taking private lessons and playing at a level equivalent to Suzuki books 1-3. The goal is to provide a formative group experience for young musicians, focusing on working together as an ensemble, intonation, articulation, and dynamic contrast. The repertoire includes unison pieces, duets, flex arrangements, and eventually multi-part pieces, annually tailored to each year’s member makeup.
