Rehearsal Information
The Youth Symphony of DuPage (YSDP) rehearses weekly during the academic year, providing students with a structured, supportive environment to develop their musicianship, ensemble skills, and performance confidence.
Rehearsals are led by experienced conductors and professional teaching artists who guide students through orchestral repertoire, technical development, and collaborative music-making. Musicians are expected to arrive prepared, on time, and fully engaged in rehearsal.

Full orchestra rehearsal.
Sectional or focused instruction as needed.
Emphasis on listening, ensemble balance, and musical interpretation.

The McAninch Arts Center (MAC) is a premier performing arts facility located on the main campus of College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. This state-of-the-art arts center houses performance halls, theatres, rehearsal spaces, and classrooms used for a wide variety of musical and theatrical events.
The MAC is located west of Park Boulevard, along Fawell Boulevard, on the main College of DuPage campus. Parking is readily available in the lots in front of or near the MAC entrance, and access is convenient from major local roads.

YSDP rehearsals culminate in three high-quality public performances during the season, providing students with valuable stage experience in a professional concert setting.
Rehearsals are held on Thursday throughout the season for all ensembles, including the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Philharmonia, Sinfonietta Strings, and Chamber Ensembles. These sessions focus on ensemble playing, technique, and preparation for upcoming public concerts. Regular attendance is essential because each rehearsal builds on the previous week’s work and directly contributes to concert readiness.
Symphony Orchestra: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Concert Orchestra: 5:15 PM – 6:45 PM
Philharmonia Strings: 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Sinfonietta Strings: 5:30 PM – 6:15 PM
Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble: 6:00 PM – 6:50 PM
Concert Orchestra Chamber Ensemble: 7:00 PM – 7:50 PM

The current season began on September 4, 2025, and will conclude on May 15, 2026, at the Spring Concert.
The new performance season, 2026-2027, is being scheduled, and we expect it to begin in late or mid-August 2026 and conclude in April 2027. The rehearsal venue and time is likly to remain the same.
